Speak Still Strange Land - Kit Form, Bristol Gallery Weekend (March 2025)
Responding to expanded ideas around landscape, Speak Still Strange Land brought together new work by Jessie Blindell, Mary Flower and Rebecca Goddard. The exhibition was developed through ongoing conversations between the artists exploring the potential overlaps in their practices, and used sculpture, photography, installation and video to explore complex relationships between human and non-human entities.
The title for the exhibition was intended as a means of inviting dialogue or exchange, whilst acknowledging the inherent discord that exists between ourselves and other forms. Taking locations in the South West as a starting point, the work responds to themes around manufacture and extraction, loss and the movement of matter, and the use of narrative to explore speculative and non-verbal communication.
Speak Still Strange Land is an ongoing forum for conversation and research.
